    Hi Chess…

Love the show…looking forward to the new stuff that is coming.

Hoping to hear a show about how best to get of the M$ wagon and get going on Linux with some of the more difficult applications like PDA support, mobile Ph support and things like scanners, printers and perhaps something on web based wysiwyg editors for linux too.

Thank you Wiz! We’ll likely get to some of that stuff in time, once we’ve got a good foundation of the more basic subjects. I appreciate the support and thanks for putting your pin on the map!! :)

    Hi Chess,

When you get a chance please review Puppy Linux 1.0.8. I love the fact that I can run it off a 512mb USB stick with room to spare. I can also load it in QEMU and run it in a window within Windows XP Pro at work without leaving any footprints. I’m curious as to how you can get a mic and webcam to work in Puppy Linux 1.0.8 or any other Linux Distro for that matter. How does it look? What is the framerate? etc. I currently use an Ezonics USB p35u webcam - I’m not sure what the chipset is. I have gotten the mic to work with Alsamixer, I just don’t know how to get the webcam working.
I do a lot of videoconferencing with family in Mexico and it would be nice to use Gnomemeeting or gaim vv to get a hold of them.

Thanks, Rafael. I will try to get to Puppy at some point, although I have a lot of basic information I want to cover first. I don’t know if I will cover webcams because I do not have one and have never tried using one. But, we will see … you never know what the future holds! :)

    Thanks!

Just wanted to add my thanks for this great podcast Chess. I have been playing around with Linux for a couple of years but have not gone very deep so I’m learning things from your podcast. I picked it up by recommendation last thursday from the mailing list the guys at linuxbasics run and have spent the intervening few days listening to all 6 casts.

I would also like to jump on the “lets have a forun” bandwagon if at all possible.

    Regards

    Tez
