I am so glad that you both posted. The great thing about Linux is that really, anyone can use it, regardless of age or gender. I welcome both of you as Windows users to this podcast and I hope that I can help both of you learn about Linux and what it can do. This podcast is exactly for people like yourselves — people who have never tried Linux but are open to it. There are no dumb questions so don’t hesitate to post or send me an email when you do not understand something.

Keith, as to your specific question, I’ll be getting to the topic of running Linux on low resources in a later episode, so I’ll just have to ask you to stay tuned.

I just found this podcast and I love it. I use Windows Me and have had a lot of problems with it. I do not want to buy xp, and canot afford a mac so I was thinking about Linux. Not many Linux girls, I know.

Anyway, thanks for doing this podcast, Chess. I think I will learn alot from it.

Hey, great podcast! I’m just 14, but I’ve made a hobbie of building computers and have repaired some for friends. On my latest project I’m interested in putting a Linux distribution on it. My problem is, I need somthing that will run on 36-64mb of RAM. I’m working on getting a new motherboard (well, a better one) that supports more RAM, but most of my parts are hand-me-downs from friends and cheap stuff out of the classified ads in the newspaper. If you know of anything that will run on such low resources but still has a clean looking interface that’s great for web-browsing and running office programs (like Linux’s Open Office) let me know if you plan on including it in a episode later in the future. Again, great podcast and keep up the excelent work!

JB - the idea of a forum has crossed my mind, but I’m holding off on that for now. I may bring it up in a show and see what the feedback is like. I would be open to the idea as long as it was done right.

Aaron - don’t worry. I’ll be getting more technical into the details of installing and dual-booting. I am trying to lay a foundation in the first several episodes so the episodes sort of have a natural progression to them. But installing and dual-booting will definitely be topics for several episodes in the future.

Hi there, Love the podcast so far…I think you should open a small forum for people to come in and discuss Linux and to help each other. See how it goes…just a sugesstion…Even though you just started…You can give it a try…I started Linux 2 months ago…still a beginner don’t know much.

I think you are on to something. great job. Teh sound is fine so no worries there. i will stay subscribed and I am also going to get some of my windows friends to listen. one of them has been trying to use linux but can’t get it going. I think he will learn a lot from this podcast. thanks for this.
