Chess, your decision is totally understandable. I'm going to miss your podcast, but you have done far more than your part in the community! It is time to put that energy into other things and you are a wise man to see that and take the steps.
You said you had a list of things to cover and have completed that. I think you had a good list and that you have picked a good point to wind it down. It has been a fantastic set of podcasts so far and I'm sure the last few will not disappoint. I think you went beyond your original vision with the interviews and that has been excellent. You have looked within and found that there is not more for you to do at this time in this area. Choosing to stop takes courage, because you have to let go of something that has been so good. But you are doing it, because it is complete for you. Trying to hold on to it would water it down. Wise and courageous decision.
I can only imagine that you had to edit some on this podcast, Chess. :-) Thanks for the advanced notice!

What a bummer. Chess I totally understand your reasoning. I will absolutely miss the podcast but your family should be the most important thing in your life. You're always welcome to come onto TLLTS anytime you feel like it. Best of luck and please let me know if you need anything.

Chess, I understand your decision as well. Nice to know you've got your priorities straight. At least this way you will be able to devote more time to that podcast client and stop pissing off your alpha testers. And now that you're famous, you can do some cameos on TLLTS and LottaLinuxLinks. No matter what happens, you've left a nice library of high quality material introducing people to many aspects of Linux. This is exactly what contributions to the community are supposed to be. Be proud sir, very proud. ps. Pat, you guys should have Chess on TLLTS to discuss it. I like when you guys interview others from the podcasting community.

I'm glad that I was able to catch the last 50 or so episodes "live". It's been fun watching, and learning about Linux. I know that it's gonna be hard to pull the plug, but best to do so, and not "Johnny Carson" it...

I had a heavy heart today when I found out that the Linux Reality podcast would end at Ep. 100. I so looked forward to all of the episodes from Chess and from the guests as well. Though I've been using GNU/Linux for many many years now, I always learned something new from this podcast. It will be sad to see the podcast go. Thankfully, the forum and IRC channel are still here for all of us to interact and help one another out.
Chess, though I am sad about the end of the podcast I do understand completely what you're talking about. I always wondered how you managed to find time for the podcast with a family (I barely have time to breathe with my wife and three boys). Glad to see that you're keeping your family first and I hope that your current and future endeavors (especially now as maintainer of certain packages) are very fruitful. It's been a fun ride for me and I thank you for taking the time to do this podcast for the new user community.

I started listening not long after getting into Linux and your podcast definitely helped me to stay with it. Thank you very much.

I was sad to hear that you are stopping the podcast - it's been one of my favorites for the past two years. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Chess,
I've enjoyed the heck out of your podcast for the last year and a half. I think I started listening around episode 30. Your podcast has helped me develop my linux skills and my interest in open source far beyond what you had probably conceived. Not long after I started listening to you, I was able to get a job working as a sysadmin at the school I attend, and LinuxReality helped me get over the steep learning curve I had to climb. Thanks for all you've done.

As many have already said, we are all sad that your podcast is coming to an end but understand why and wish you every success in the future. Most podcasts I listen to I delete once heard, but the nature of Linux Reality means they are worthy of keeping as an information resource. As many others have also said, thanks Chess. So long, and thanks for all the fish!
If I didn't recognize the late Douglas Adams in that quote I'd have thought it was a reference to your cat avatar.

Wow, I'm really sad to hear you say that. But I suppose, as others have said, that it's understandable. After all, managing a podcast must be almost a full-time job. If anything, you've helped me discover a whole world of great Linux related podcasts, as well as a great series of audiobooks. So thanks for that!

I guess I'm coming late to the party. I've net had a chance to listen to 96 yet. But I want to through my hat in as well as saying that I've enjoyed this Cast for quite some time and will very much miss it. Good run, god run. See you round the community...

I'm sad to hear that, but at the same time I really understand you too, sometimes, one has to do what one has to, and you've done lots of good things for the community, and I think you have helped many with getting over to the light side thanks for all your hard work
