This couldn't come at a more opportune moment.  I've got Ardour running on my iMac in Tiger but I've wanted to set it up on my Slackware box as well.  I have the latest 2.2 version installed and I've been able to get sound to record, but I haven't done anything major with it yet.  Hopefully this episode will get me on that path. Has anyone tried the Musix linux distro? One of my bothers is a super musician and I would like to give hime more reason to keep on using 'nix.
