Cool a security related podcast that actually acknowledges that Linux exists. I'll have to check out some of their other episodes. I stopped listening to Security Now a long time ago after I hit my "Spinrite" plugging threshold.

Yes, their podcast is top notch. I've mentioned it before in some other threads as one of my select podcasts. They hold no bars when it comes to security and rip it to those that put it on the backburner.

It was a great show Chess. I got their latest podcast and got to listen to the first half on the way home. Good stuff. I like it better than that other security podcast.

Well, I finally got a chance to really listen to it today. Great episode. Loved the discussions about embedded Linux hacking. I just wish they hadn't focused so much on security with Windows and Macintosh considering this interview was on a podcast about the new Linux user, and that kind of disappointed me a bit. Fortunately, a lot of what they said was generic and Chess did a great job in correlating their responses to GNU/Linux. Seems as though they finally got the idea and started discussing solutions for GNU/Linux, but again they would veer off into Windows and Mac land. Despite this, they are very good at what they do and their podcast is excellent in regards to security. I definitely recommend it. Now I just have to download and listen to Episode 1 of PaulDotCom so I can point and laugh. :p

It was an interesting and qualified discussion. Linux Reality is really very, very good - I used to be a Lugradio fan, but now it is the Linux Reality episodes, I look forward to. Not that I stopped listening to Lugradio or the Linux ACTION Show, but Linux Reality is just so much more - perhaps pleasant is the word?

As a linux user who always assumed that I was safe solely by the virtues of my chosen OS. I was glad to hear a discussion about why its worth my time to secure my computer better. I don't want know how many podcast Chess has had to endure to find these guy but I'm glad he did.

Great interview Chess. I have one question about a statement you made. You mentioned that your Internet facing box is running FreeBSD and something else I couldn't quite get, and that you noticed an improvement in throughput. Was that a program or hardware or what? Thanks Mr. M.

Actually, I have OpenBSD with the OpenBSD firewall called 'pf' running on a Soekris 4801. The Soekris is a tiny embedded x86-compatible box and I have the whole OS running off a compactflash card. It actually loads into RAM to avoid writing onto the CF card. It also has a minipci Ralink wireless card that I sometimes use as an OpenVPN access point. There are some howto's out there on web on how to do this, and it's not easy, but it is fun. :-)
