Very nice with a user feedback-focused episode.
What I was surprised to hear was the Ubuntu user who said he had yet to reboot. Do you people have the machines turned on 24/7?
About kernel recompilation: It is fairly tricky to explain. it is good if one can make a screen recording while explaining, but through sound only it is difficult to benefit from.
Regarding the comment from my fellow countryman Anders: In Fluxbox, Mod1 is the Alt key. Mod4 is usually the Windows key.

Hey Chess.  Great listener feedback episode.

I thought it was rather interesting that one of the listeners was using this podcast to get around the Darwin environment in Mac OS X.  Very cool!  For the mostpart, a lot of the commands are pretty transparent among the Unix-like environments.  There are only a few that differ like those that call for system information.  I know that in Darwin or BSD you need to do hostinfo to find out information about the kernel version, while in Linux it's uname.  Things like that.

One good site to compare the commands among different UNIX environments is the Rosetta Stone for Unix.  It uses Javascript to create a table of common commands used on the UNIX environments that you've selected for different things.

http://bhami.com/rosetta.html

Had it not been for this page, I would not have been able to figure some things out in FreeBSD as quickly. Wink

Yes it is.  It's one of the most critical bookmarks in Firefox for me (along with LR Wink).
